What is SIM Registration?
Republic Act No. 11934 mandates all SIM users, both existing and new, to register their SIMs with their current telcos.
Who should register their SIM?
New SIM Activation - newly bought SIMs should be registered first before the telco provider activates them. For new Smart Postpaid subscribers, their fully signed and accomplished Subscriber Application Form and submitted documents will serve as their SIM registration.
Existing subscribers should register their SIMs based on the allowable period provided by the Law. For existing Smart Postpaid subscribers, their previously submitted information, data, documents and fully signed Subscriber Application Form will serve as their SIM registration. Smart will notify all Postpaid subscribers and secure their confirmation of the information and data already provided to Smart upon subscription to the service/s.
For minors, SIMs will have to be registered under the name of the minor’s parent or guardian.
What information are needed for me to register my SIM?
Subscribers are required to provide and submit the following information for them to register their SIM:
- Mobile Number with Serial Number (Serial number to be provided by SMART)
- Full Name
- Date of Birth
- Complete Address
- Sex
- Upload a valid government-issued ID (please click here to see the list of valid IDs)
- Selfi Photo
What IDs are acceptable for me to be able to register my SIM?
Under the Law, acceptable Valid IDs or any similar form of documents with photo that will verify the identity of the end-users include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Passport;
- Philippine Identification;
- Social Security System ID;
- Government Service Insurance System E-Card;
- Driver’s License;
- National Bureau of Investigation Clearance;
- Police Clearance;
- Firearms’ License to Own and Posses ID;
- Professional Regulation Commission ID;
- Integrated Bar of the Philippines ID;
- Overseas Workers Welfare Administration ID;
- Bureau of Internal Revenue ID;
- Voter’s ID;
- Citizen’s Card;
- Unified Multi-purpose Identification Card;
- Person with Disabilities Card; or
- Other valid government-issued ID with Photo
Do I need to register the SIM in my Smart Bro Pocket WiFi, Plug-Its, and Smart Bro or PLDT Prepaid Home WiFi?
Yes. Smart Bro Pocket WiFi, Plug-Its, and Smart Bro or PLDT Prepaid Home WiFi routers that come with a prepaid SIM card are also required to be registered. This also includes SIMs intended for WiFi routers – Rocket SIM and FAM SIM.
How can I retrieve the OTP sent to my Smart Bro Prepaid Pocket WiFi or Smart Bro or PLDT Prepaid Home WiFi?
